Case Description
I had an implant on my upper left top 5 months ago and now am in the final stretch. My dentist lasered the gum tissue above these two teeth and then took the dental impressions so the veneer and the implant veneer could be made. When I looked in the mirror with my temoraries on, I noticed that the gums on each of these teeth are VERY different. One oval an shaped nicely, the other much lower and angled. I pointed this out to the dentist and he said not to worry that the lab would make the top of the teeth the same and that he would finish my gums AFTER the permenent veneers arrived. This seems crazy to me and seems to risk the chance of exposing the top of the crown if he were to do this after the fact. In my mind it seems the gums should be done first, then the impressions made and them the final veneers and not a big laser gum procedure after placement. Please help. I'm desperate for answers a.s.a.p.

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Typically, not always, the gums should be treated first. Only crowns can be placed on implants. The gums around implants will often look different than gums around your natural teeth. The goal is to make them look as natural as possible. If your gum surgery was performed around natural teeth, it would be best to treat the gums prior to final delivery.Hope this helps.Dr. Daniel Charltonwww.delmarviewdental.com858-481-8848
