I had a root canal performed by a local dentist. When he put the temporary crown on (which he never told me was only temporary) he tested the height with the paper and decided it was good. I told him I felt it was too high, as I've had that happen before and it caused me a great deal of pain. He told me it would feel differently later and sent me out the door.
That night I was in agony and had to cancel work. The next day I went to another dentist who was closer and more readily available than the original guy. He told me the root canal was overfilled and it wasn't a good job. He suggested I not pay for it. I got the rest of the work performed by him.
I've written two letters explaining my situation and dissatisfaction to the original dentist. He's had his secretary respond and tell me they did their best and I should pay. I am mostly upset because he didn't listen to me and didn't finish the job properly.
I don't want to be unreasonable, but I feel that I need to be an advocate for myself here. I suggested I'd take it up with the Peer Review Committee, but the secretary told me he's not a member of the ADA so that wouldn't do anything and that they were going to have to send my bill to collections.
I'm looking for an unbiased opinion of what I should do. I love the new dentist, and I trust him, but I want to get another opinion here.
Thank you so much!
